NOTICE OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
 
WHEN: 10am SATURDAY 02 DECEMBER 2023

$6 for 4 hours at Knox St carpark 
First hour free then $2 per half hour at Centre Place, entrance from Bryce St
$12 for 4 hours at the Farmers Hamilton Carpark, Alexandra St

Believe it or not, we have reached that time of year again!  It is our great pleasure that this year we can hold the Alliance Francaise Hamilton Annual General Meeting at our premises!

We are hoping many of you will be able to join us to see the classrooms, library, DVD library and other facilities we have set up and been using this year.

The AGM has been scheduled at the time we would normally be having our monthly French Breakfast. There will be extra special festive pastries and coffee so you won't miss out on breakfast, and we invite you to bring something to share for a Pot Luck Lunch afterwards to celebrate the start of the festive season and the end of a busy year!

We need to hold our Annual General Meeting to comply with the terms of our Constitution and Charities’ Commission requirements. More than that, it is also the opportunity to share the achievements and challenges of the year when we report back to members and get your feedback. With this being the first year in premises the Committee has tried running a wide variety of different events to appeal to different audiences. Some have worked better than others. We would like your feedback on what has gone well and what you would like to see more of, and to share some of our challenges and insights.

The Alliance is only as strong as its members, and the people who roll up their sleeves to help organise things. During the year one of our Committee members Emilie Duval-Kapp has moved to Australia, and Estelle Ansel and Lucie Benard are standing down at the end of the year due to other commitments. Our Treasurer LIbby Totton has also served in various roles for six years, and is now at the end of the time she can serve on the Committee. We thank them all for their dedication, particularly Libby who has been both Secretary and Treasurer at different times, and who was instrumental in getting the new website and back end systems up and running.

But that means we need more help for Alliance to continue into the future as a vibrant organisation bringing a taste of France to Hamiton!

All positions are open for election every year, and we invite everyone interested to participate and put their name forward.  Nominations are now open for our Officers (President, Secretary and Treasurer) and Committee. An election will be held for any position with more than one candidate.

If you have enjoyed the range of activities on offer, or you have great ideas for what else we could be doing, why not join the Committee as a regular Committee member even if you don't want to stand for Officer?  

Particular responsibilities are assigned taking account of capability, interest and availability and the Committee has been able to flexibly adjust and support each other during the year so Committee members contribute when they can, but other people have been able to take up the load in busy times. Many hands make light work, and fresh ideas brighten things up!

We'll email you again with more information about what will be on the agenda but it will include an overview of the year's activities, a financial report and an opportunity for you to contribute feedback and suggestions for 2024.
